For my project I chose to research Ansel Adams. Ansel adams was born on february 20th 1902, and died on April 22nd 1984. Adams was born and grew up in San Francisco California. When Ansel was young he experienced in earthquake and was badly injured and his nose was bent. When he was 12 years old his father removed him from school for being to restless. In his later teen years Ansel fell in love with music and began to play the piano very seriously. However he picked up a strong interest in photography and nature a few years later.
Ansel Adams was a great photographer who photographed in black and white. Most of his photos were taken in black and white, and were photographed of nature. He traveled a lot to yosemite national park and photographed a lot in parks such as that. If I were to compare it to any painting I would compare it to the Van Gogh: “Irises,” oil on canvas, 1889. This painting is a painting of Irises which is just a simple beautiful painting of nature which is what Ansel thrived at photographing
Ansel you could say was an environmental activist, as many of the photographs he took were of parks before they were declared federal land. Anseel saw the beauty in this land, and photographed this land before tourism became big. Some people make the argument that photographers such as ansel led to federal parks the way we have them today. As a country we truly saw and discovered the beauty that this land posed due to the photographs taken by ansel as well as other photographers. Ansel was a pro-environmental photographer, and I think he would be very disappointed in the way that we take all of our beautiful land for granted by polluting, and littering etc.

Ansel's Image is of a Tree with the sun setting in the background. My image is in color of a tree, in the middle of the day. Ansel photographed his picture at the exact right time were the sun would be peaking through the branches of the tree, his picture is truly beautiful. I attempted to take a picture with good lighting by taking the picture at an angle, but it didn't turn out as well as i would have liked.
